Reconstruction of US 9W/State Route 81 Intersection

Improved safety for motorists and pedestrians was at the forefront of this intersection reconstruction project. MJ provided design, survey and mapping, and construction inspection services. The design included a new signalized intersection, sidewalks, high visibility crosswalks, pedestrian crossing timers and signals, ADA compliant ramps, lighting, landscaping, drainage, utilities, signing, and striping.

The scope included design survey, ROW survey and mapping, preliminary design studies, development of alternatives, development of a Design Approval Document and environmental assessment, and evaluation of construction costs, social, economic, and environmental factors. MJ was also responsible for constructability review, construction support, and construction inspection services.

The project required close coordination with municipal and state agencies to obtain permits and approvals and coordination of public hearings.
