Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements

MJ was responsible for engineering services associated with the design of wastewater treatment plant improvements at the Finger Lakes Residential Center in Lansing, New York for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
MJ provided wastewater, site/civil, structural, and architectural design, environmental permitting, bid phase and construction phase services. The improvements were completed in two phases and included replacement of process equipment, including the existing rotating biological contactors (RBCs) and media, sand filtration beds, influent pumps, dosing pumps, sludge pumps, influent and effluent flow meters, and instrumentation and controls.
In addition to the process upgrades, MJ designed modifications for the structural, mechanical, and electrical systems associated with the RBCs, control and laboratory building, and pumping systems. MJ also designed site improvements, including pavement replacement, exterior control panel equipment pads and shelters, and metering manhole modifications.
