Cranesville Fire Department Renovations

Amsterdam, New York

MJ provided architecture and engineering services for a feasibility study and associated design for renovations to the Cranesville Fire Department located in Amsterdam, New York. The renovation included an addition on the west side of the building, enlarged openings between the existing truck bays to allow better access to the fire trucks and a fire separation wall between the truck bays and the communal gathering space.

The building addition supports a storage area, mechanical room, rest rooms, control center and vestibule.  The addition was composed of steel framing supported by concrete foundations. MJ's structural engineers provided design for the masonry wall removal and steel lintels to expand the openings between the existing truck bays, as well as for the removal and replacement of the concrete aprons in front of the overhead door bays. Site/civil tasks included regrading for the building addition and rerouting of the sanitary sewer pipe from the restrooms to the existing septic tank.

Along with design, MJ provided survey and assisted with bid and construction phase services.
