MJ participated in its 7th year of the Capital Region CANstruction competition. CANstruction is an organization that collects and distributes canned food donations through design/build competitions. Teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and students come together to design and create massive structures made completely out of non-perishable food items. The teams compete for awards and the structures are put on display to be judged and viewed by the public. After the exhibition, all cans are donated to the Food Pantries for the Capital District.
MJ was one of 12 teams competing in this year’s event. Since its inception in 2011, Capital Region CANstruction has donated over 500,000 pounds of food and $150,000 to The Food Pantries for the Capital District!
This year's theme was LET'S EAT! MJ's Chinese takeout themed design took home the “Best Meal” award at the awards ceremony! The award is given to the team that strategically designs a CANstructure using items that the food pantries are in need of most.
