POSITION SUMMARY:
MJ is actively seeking a senior civil engineer to join our team to assist with current and exciting future projects. This job offering provides an exciting opportunity for the ideal candidate to grow and advance in MJ’s civil engineering group, focusing on the private land development market. We are seeking a motivated candidate with a strong interest in civil engineering that is well organized, resourceful, and creative. As a senior civil engineer, you will progress design concepts through design development and work with the project team to produce construction documents or technical studies for a wide range of projects and clients throughout New York and the Northeast.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in a project team to support land development engineering projects from initial project programming up to and through construction
Solid understanding of and design experience with water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, stormwater management inclusive NYSDEC stormwater regulations, roadways, parking lots, and grading
Understanding of regulatory environment of local land use codes and applicable NYS regulations applicable to land development, including SEQR
Experience appearing before local land use boards to support approvals
Ability to provide construction administration services and work with construction inspectors to monitor project completion
Communicate effectively and coordinate with project team members, including subconsultants and other disciplines
Mentoring and training of staff engineers
Assist in the development of project proposals
Ability to manage workload and budgets
Technical engineering lead on multi-discipline projects
Functioning as project manager on small to medium sizes projects or ability to become project manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 to 10 years of relevant experience
Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET- accredited college
Professional Engineering license required
Strong proficient in the use of Civil 3D, HydroCAD and other engineering software platforms
Ability to work within multiple design teams and execute to meet demanding schedules
Ability to oversee small to large design projects, working with other senior staff for positive project outcome
Strong technical writing, solid verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with clients, project teams, and colleagues
Must be a U.S. citizen or be eligible to work without an employer sponsorship
